A man was hacked to death by unknown assailants on Thursday night near Gopalpur Sugar Mills High School in Lalpur upazila of Natore district.

The deceased was identified as Md Saidur Rahman, 35. He was son of the late Altaf Hossain of Bamngram in Veramara upazila of Kushtia district

The incident happened around 10:30pm on the Gopalpur-Lalpur road beside the school.

Lalpur police station officer-in-charge Md Mominuzzaman told Banglanews that locals noticed blood smeared on the door of a private car parked by the roadside near the school. At the same time, they found a bloodied body lying on a nearby drain and immediately alerted the police.

Upon receiving the information, police recovered the body from the scene.

He added that it is believed Saidur Rahman was the driver of the vehicle. The motive behind the killing and identity of the attackers are under investigation.
