Eight individuals have been arrested in connection with the recent attack on students of Sylhet Engineering College,.
The matter was confirmed by Shah Paran Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Monir Hossain Molla to Banglanews on Thursday (August 7).
On Wednesday night, following the incident a student named Tanvir Ahmed filed a case naming 14 individuals and accusing 20 to 25 others.
According to reports, a group of students from Sylhet Agricultural University (SAU) had rented the 'King Futsal Sports Centre' field in Baluchar Nayabazar area of the city for one hour. When they continued playing for an additional half hour beyond their allotted time, players who had booked the next slot raised objections, leading to a heated altercation between the two groups.
Later, police arrived at the scene shortly after the incident and brought the situation under control.
