Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus on Tuesday (Aug 5) released a commemorative postage stamp and an inaugural envelope to mark July Uprising Day, in remembrance of the historic student-led movement that led to sweeping political change in Bangladesh last year.

The official unveiling took place at a ceremony held at the State Guest House Jamuna in Dhaka.

The Chief Adviser used a ceremonial canceller to release the stamp and envelope, symbolising the government’s tribute to the mass uprising that culminated in the resignation of the previous administration on August 5, 2024.

The event was attended by key members of the interim cabinet, including Education Adviser Dr. C.R. Abrar, Liberation War Affairs Adviser Faruk E Azam, Industries and Public Works Adviser Adilur Rahman Khan, and Environment, Forest and Climate Change Adviser Syeda Rizwana Hasan.

Also present were the Chief Adviser’s Special Assistant Faiz Ahmed Taiyeb, ICT Division Secretary Shish Haider Chowdhury, and Posts and Telecommunication Secretary Abdun Naser Khan.

The release of the stamp is one of several initiatives being undertaken by the interim government to formally commemorate the first anniversary of the July Uprising, a turning point in the nation’s democratic journey.
