A member of the Election Commission (EC) said the schedule for the upcoming national elections will be announced in the first half of December.

Election Commissioner Abul Fazal Md Sanaullah made the remark while speaking to reporters following the 9th meeting of the EC on Thursday (August 7).

“The Chief Adviser has sent a letter requesting that the national election be held before Ramadan, in the first half of February. That letter was placed in today’s meeting,” Sanaullah said.

He added that the Chief Election Commissioner has already informed the commission that the polls schedule will be declared two months prior to the election date. 

“Based on that, you can assume the schedule will be announced in the first half of December,” he said.

When asked whether the announcement could be expected in the first week of December, the election commissioner replied, “No.”
