A Dhaka court today placed seven members of the banned Hizb ut-Tahrir group on a four-day remand each in a case filed under the Anti-Terrorism Act at Dhanmandi Police Station.
The remanded accused are Md Araf Ibrahim, Md Zubayer, Nishan, Sakib Hasan, Zaved, Abrar, and Mahfuzul Hasan. Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate M A Azharul Islam passed the order after police presented the seven to court, requesting a 10-day remand for each.
The accused were arrested from Dhanmandi on March 21 after 140-150 Hizb ut-Tahrir members held a rally in front of the Dhanmandi Baitul Aman Mosque, chanting anti-government slogans.
They broke a police barricade and attacked officers when obstructed.
