Bangladesh Railway authorities and the Railways Ministry have advised passengers to purchase tickets only through the official app (Rail Service) or directly from railway counters to avoid potential fraud and harassment during Eid journeys.
The travel period runs from March 24 to March 30, with a limit of four tickets per ID, including the names of companions. The same rules apply for the return journey from April 3.
Passengers purchasing tickets from unauthorized sources risk being defrauded, said a press release.
Tickets purchased must be used by the ID holder and their listed companions, with the ID holder required to travel with the corresponding mobile phone and valid photo ID.
Any attempt to travel under a different name will result in legal action.
Passengers encountering fraud or black-market ticket sales are encouraged to report incidents to law enforcement or Bangladesh Railway officials.
Complaints can also be lodged via the Railway Police or the Bangladesh Railway hotline at 131.
Complainants’ identities will remain confidential.
