Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus and United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres arrived in Cox’s Bazar today to visit the Rohingya refugee camps.
Their flight landed at Cox’s Bazar Airport at 12:48 pm, where they were welcomed by Disaster Management and Relief Adviser Faruk E Azam.
During the visit, Prof Yunus will inaugurate a project at Cox’s Bazar Airport and visit the Khurushkul climate refugee center.
Both leaders will join around one lakh Rohingyas for Iftar and engage with community leaders, imams, and refugees.
Before Iftar, Guterres will tour several camp facilities, including the Watch Tower, Learning Centre, and a jute production site.
He is also expected to interact with Rohingya youth and children.
The visit will conclude in the evening with their return to Dhaka, where Guterres will attend several events, including a visit to the UN Common Premises and a discussion on Bangladesh’s reform process.
He is also set to meet with civil society members and address a joint media briefing.
