A court in Narail today sentenced Abdul Motaleb, 67, to life imprisonment in a drug trafficking case.
Motaleb, from Uttarpara-Tupuria village in Gopalganj, was found guilty of possessing 67 bottles of phensidyl.
Narail Additional District and Sessions Court Judge Muhammad Shahinur Rahman passed the verdict today,
The court also imposed a Tk 20,000 fine on Motaleb
In default of payment, he will face an additional six months in jail.
The conviction stems from an anti-narcotics operation on January 10, 2012, when Motaleb was arrested in possession of the drugs in Narail town.
A case was filed under the Narcotics Control Act with Narail Sadar Police Station.
