DHAKA: Myanmar violated Bangladesh’s airspace for 17 times following atrocities of Myanmar government in Rakhine State began on August 25 and influx of Rohingya refuges to Bangladesh.
‘Humanity for Rohingya Bangladesh’, a newly formed platform floated for raising voice for repressed Rohingyas, said this at a press conference at Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) in the city on Thursday (September 14).
Convener of the platform Advocate Maulana Shahinur Pasha Chowdhury, a former MP of Sunamganj, delivered the written statement at the press conference.
The press conference was arranged to brief about the road-march from Sylhet towards Myanmar called for September 21 and 22.
The Human for Rohingya Bangladesh called the road-march program on September 06 to register their protest against the Myanmar’s atrocities on Rohingya Muslims and people of other religions in Rakhine state.
Former religious affairs minister and Jamiyat leader Mufti Mohammad Waqqas, members of road-march implementation committee Maulana Rezaul Karim, Maulana Golam Mohiuddin Ikram and Maulana Wali Ullah Arman also attended the Thursday’s press conference, among others.
Shahinur Pasha Chowdhury called upon all to join the road-march and make the program a success in stopping repression and genocide on Rohingyas.
In his written statement, he said that if the Rohingya issue is not solved, it will be a cause of threat for the sovereignty of Bangladesh.
He said that Myanmar already violated Bangladesh’s airspace for 17 times, but the government did not take any stern initiative without verbal protest.
In a diplomatic note sent to the Myanmar Embassy in Dhaka, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on September 01 protested the repeated instances of violation of Bangladesh’s airspace by a number of Myanmar helicopters on August 27 and 28, and September 1.
