The month-long Islamic Book Fair will begin tomorrow on the premises of the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque in Dhaka.
Religious Affairs Adviser Dr A F M Khalid Hossain will inaugurate the fair as the chief guest at 4:45 pm (after Asr prayers), said a press release. Religious Affairs Secretary AKM Aftab Hossain Pramanik will attend as special guest, while Islamic Foundation Director General A. Salam Khan will preside over the opening ceremony.
The fair, to be held at the south and east plazas of the mosque, will continue until October 12. It will remain open from 11 am to 10 pm daily, and from 10 am to 10 pm on holidays.
This year’s fair features about 150 stalls, including at least five international stalls from Egypt, Lebanon, and Pakistan. The fair will showcase a wide range of books on Islam, including translations of the Holy Quran, Tafsir, Hadith, and research-based works.
Alongside book sales, the event will feature Islamic cultural performances, discussion meetings, and book unveiling ceremonies, with participation from writers, readers, and publishers. Facilities will include a children’s area, media corner, information center, and separate seating arrangements for women.
On the occasion of the fair, a 40 to 70 percent discount will be offered on books published by the Islamic Foundation at its stalls and in its divisional and district offices.
