Chief Adviser (CA) Professor Muhammad Yunus has said that the July Mass Uprising will receive formal state and constitutional recognition. 

He said the July Declaration will be incorporated into the schedule of a reformed constitution to be framed by the government elected through the next national election.

He made the remarks on Tuesday (August 5) at 5pm while reading out the July Declaration at the South Plaza of the National Parliament, marking the first anniversary of the fall and flight of autocratic ruler Sheikh Hasina.

Clause 27 of the July Declaration states that the people of Bangladesh express their desire for appropriate state and constitutional recognition of the 2024 student-people uprising, and for the inclusion of the July Declaration in the schedule of the reformed constitution to be framed by the next elected government.

Additionally, Clause 24 declares that the people of Bangladesh recognise all martyrs of the July Uprising as national heroes and express their intention to ensure all necessary legal protection for the families of the martyrs, the wounded fighters, and the participating students and people.
