Sayeed Hossain Chowdhury, Chairman of HRC Group and a prominent figure in Bangladesh’s tea industry, passed away on Tuesday morning.
He breathed his last at 11:10 am while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Dhaka.
He was the son of Hedayet Hossain Chowdhury, the founding chairman of Karnaphuli Group, a language movement veteran, and a noted social worker.
Sayeed Hossain Chowdhury played a significant role in developing Bangladesh’s tea industry. Under his leadership, HRC Group emerged as one of the country’s top tea exporters, enhancing Bangladesh’s reputation on the global stage.
He also represented Bangladesh with distinction abroad, having served as the Honorary Consul of Bangladesh in Spain. He was widely respected within the diplomatic community.
For many years, Chowdhury was associated with various international organisations and forums, where he worked to promote Bangladesh’s business and investment potential to the world.
He is survived by his wife, two sons, a daughter, and many admirers.
