A lawyer died after collapsing in the Chandpur District Judge Court during a case hearing on Tuesday (July 15) morning, according to court officials and colleagues.
The deceased was identified as Abdul Mannan Khan (also known as Mohin), who had been a member of the Chandpur District Bar Association since 2010.
He was presenting an admission hearing in a revision case when he suddenly felt dizzy and fell to the courtroom floor around 11:30am.
According to witnesses, he collapsed, his head struck a court bench, causing a bleeding injury. Fellow lawyers and court staff quickly rushed him to Chandpur Government General Hospital.
Public Prosecutor Kuhinur Begum confirmed the matter, saying that the lawyer was in the middle of his argument when he lost consciousness.
Later, He was immediately taken to the hospital for treatment, she said.
Lawyers said Abdul Mannan Khan lived with his wife, a son, and a daughter at his home south of Chandpur Sadar Upazila Parishad. His ancestral home is in Chandpur village of Hajiganj upazila’s No.4 Kalcho Dakkhin Union.
