DHAKA: Law enforcers detained at least 176 people, including 11 BNP-Jamaat men, in overnight drives conducted in Jhenaidah, Narail, Jessore, and Satkhira districts till Monday morning.
Police held them from different upazilas of the districts sometimes between Sunday midnight and Monday 9:30am.
Banglanews District Correspondent in Jessore reported that a total 49 persons, including three activists of Jamaat, were arrested from different areas of the district.
Source of the district police control room said that the arrestees are set to produce before court on Sunday noon.
Banglanews District Correspondent in Satkhira added 75 people, including five Jamaat-Shibir men were arrested in the district.
District police information officer Sub-Inspector (SI) Kamal Hossain confirmed the matter to banglanews.
In Narail, police arrested some 27 people, including two BNP men, across the district. They all are accused in different cases.
Narail police control room sources said the law enforcers’ detained 12 men from Sadar, five from Lohagora, four from Kalia and six from Noragati upazlis.
District Superintendent of Police (SP) Rakibul Islam confirmed the matter to banglanews.
At least 25 people including a Jamaat activist were arrested in different cases in Jhenaidah.
