The Bangladesh Nationalist Party’s student wing, Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD), has announced its full panel of candidates for the upcoming Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) elections.
JCD named Abidul Islam Khan as its candidate for Vice President (VP), while Sheikh Tanvir Bari Hamim will contest for the post of General Secretary (GS).
The announcement was made on Wednesday (20 August) in front of the university’s iconic Aparajeyo Bangla sculpture by JCD President Rakibul Islam Rakib.
Tanvir Al Hadi Mayed, a student of the Department of Mass Communication and Journalism, will contest for the Assistant General Secretary (AGS) position. Other key posts include Ariful Islam for Liberation War and Democratic Movement Affairs Secretary, Ehsanul Islam for Science and Technology Secretary, Chemon Faria Islam Meghla for Common Room, Reading Room and Cafeteria Secretary, Mehedi Hasan for International Affairs Secretary, and Abu Hayat Md Zulfiqar Zisan for Literature and Culture Secretary.
The Research and Publication Affairs post has been left vacant in honour of Sanjida Ahmed Tonni, who was injured in an incident on 15 July at Dhaka University.
Chim Chimya Chakma will contest for Sports Secretary, Md Saif Ullah (Saif) for Student Transport Secretary, Syed Imam Hasan Anik for Social Welfare Secretary, Md Arkanul Islam Rupak for Career Development Secretary, Anwar Hossain for Health and Environment Secretary, and Md Mehedi Hasan Munna for Human Rights and Legal Affairs Secretary.
The panel also announced 13 members: Md Zarif Rahman, Mahmudul Hasan, Nahid Hasan, Hasibur Rahman Sakib, Shamim Rana, Yasin Arafat Alif, Munim Hasan Arup, Ranjan Roy, Sowaib Islam Omi, Meherunnesa Keya, Ibnu Ahmed, Samsul Haque Anan, and Nityananda Pal.
