Police have filed a case against 3,000 to 3,500 unidentified individuals in connection with Friday’s attack on the shrine of Nurul Haque, locally known as “Nural Pagla,” in Goalanda Upazila, Rajbari district.
Sub-Inspector Selim Molla lodged the case with Goalanda Police Station early today, naming all accused for obstructing police duties, vandalizing government property, and arson, Inspector (Investigation) Rashidul Islam, the investigation officer, told BSS. Two police vehicles were damaged during the incident.
No arrests have been made yet, but police are reviewing video footage from the scene to identify and capture the perpetrators.
On Friday, hundreds of people attacked the “Darbar Sharif” of Nural Pagla, exhumed his body, and set it on fire. Despite the violence, no murder case has been filed, though one person was reportedly killed during clashes.
Police have urged cooperation from locals to ensure swift action against those responsible.
