Three people were killed by lightning strikes in separate incidents in Mithamain and Austagram upazilas of Kishoreganj on Monday (April 28).

The deceased were identified as Fulesha Begum, 65, wife of late Ashrab Ali of Raniganj village in Mithamain upazila; Indrajit Das, 35, son of late Jatindra Das of Halalpur village in Austagram; and Swadhin Mia, 15, son of Idris Mia of Khoyerpur village in the same upazila.

According to police and local sources, Fulesha Begum was drying paddy straw at Raniganj haor in Mithamain when lightning struck during a storm around 8:00 am, killing her on the spot.

In another incident, Indrajit Das went to cut paddy at a haor field in Halalpur village around 10:30 am when he was also struck and killed by lightning.

Later in the afternoon, Swadhin Mia was cutting paddy at a haor field in Khoyerpur village when he died after being hit by lightning during a storm.

Austagram Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Ruhul Amin, Kalma Union Parishad Chairman Radhakrishna Das, and Mithamain Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Arpon Biswas confirmed the matter.
