Advance ticket sales for Bangladesh Railway intercity trains, in connection with the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr, have officially begun. 

Tickets for post-Eid return journeys will be available online starting at 8 am today (March 24).

Bangladesh Railway is selling all tickets online, with separate time slots for each region. 

Tickets for the western region will be available from 8 am, and for the eastern region from 2 pm. Tickets purchased today will be valid for travel on April 3.

Tickets for other dates will be sold on the following days: April 4 tickets on March 25, April 5 on March 26, April 6 on March 27, April 7 on March 28, April 8 on March 29, and April 9 on March 30. 

However, tickets for March 31, April 1, and April 2 will be sold based on moon sighting.

In response to passenger demand, Bangladesh Railway has decided to cancel the weekly day-off for intercity trains from March 27 until the day before Eid. 

Regular weekly days off will resume after Eid, and no intercity trains will operate on Eid day.

While previous years saw 8-10 pairs of special trains for the Eid journey, this year only five pairs will run, serving key routes including Chittagong-Chandpur, Dhaka-Dewanganj, Bhairabazar-Kishoreganj, Mymensingh-Kishoreganj, and Joydebpur-Parbatipur.

The Ministry of Railways had earlier announced the advance ticket sale on March 9, aiming to streamline travel for passengers during the busy Eid period.
