Two people were killed, and at least 21 others were injured after a truck overturned in Sherpur upazila of Bogura on Friday (March 21) morning.
The deceased were identified as Hanif Uddin, 35, and daily wage worker Harun-or-Rashid, 52, on the spot.
The accident happened at Ranbir Bala on the Sherpur-Dhunat regional road when a truck coming from Dhunat hit a pedestrian named Hanif near Bashir Pagla Mazar before crashing into a shallow-engine vehicle (Votvoti) and overturning. The impact caused the Votvoti to overturn as well.
The injured, all residents of Jhajhar in Khamarkandi union, were on their way to Kusumbi for potato harvesting. Among them, seven critically injured were rushed to the hospital.
Sherpur Fire Service Warehouse In-Charge Bakhtiar Uddin confirmed the matter.
He said emergency responders arrived quickly and took the injured to Sherpur Upazila Health Complex.
Sherpur Police Sub-Inspector (SI) Tofazzal Hossain said no arrests have been made, and police seized the truck and are taking legal action in this regard.
