Bangladesh Pratidin marks 15 years of fearless journalism

Bangladesh Pratidin, the country’s highest-circulated daily, has entered its 16th year, reaffirming its commitment to fearless and independent journalism.

To mark the milestone, a cake-cutting ceremony was held on Friday evening, attended by members of the Bangladesh Pratidin team.

Afroza Begum, a key patron of the newspaper and a director of Bashundhara Group, led the celebration by cutting the anniversary cake, accompanied by Bashundhara Group Vice Chairman Safwan Sobhan.

Senior officials of Bangladesh Pratidin were present at the event, including Acting Editor Abu Taher, Executive Editor Manjurul Islam, Joint Editor Mahmud Hasan, Deputy Editors Kamal Mahmud and Shimul Mahmud, Multimedia Deputy Editor Raju Ahmed, Multimedia Managing Editor Ruhul Amin Russell, News Editor Nahidul Islam, City Editor Mirza Mehdi Tamal, Chief Reporter Julker Nain Rono, Chief Photographer Abu Taher Khokon, Head of Circulation Md Billal Hossain Montu, Head of Marketing Salah Uddin Ahmed, Online In-Charge Shamsul Haque Russell, and Feature Editor Ronok Ikram. Masudur Rahman Manna, private secretary to the chairman of Bashundhara Group, was also in attendance.

Addressing the gathering, Afroza Begum extended her best wishes to the newspaper’s team. 

“I hope everyone continues working with integrity and dedication to take Bangladesh Pratidin forward,” she said, adding “Bashundhara Group remains committed to serving the nation, and I urge you all to uphold the same vision—delivering the truth with courage and objectivity.”

To commemorate the anniversary, an iftar gathering was held on Friday at the International Convention City Bashundhara near the 300-feet expressway in Kuril, Dhaka.

Launched on 15 March 2010, Bangladesh Pratidin has maintained its position as the nation’s most widely circulated newspaper. The National Parliament of Bangladesh has repeatedly recognized it as the leading daily in terms of circulation. 

In addition to its print edition, the newspaper’s digital platform enjoys a vast readership among Bengali-speaking audiences worldwide, offering both Bengali and English versions.

Bangladesh Pratidin’s multimedia division is also gaining traction, particularly for its video content. On this significant milestone, the newspaper extended its gratitude to readers, advertisers, distributors, and well-wishers for their unwavering support.
