Former Dhaka University (DU) Vice-Chancellor Prof AAMS Arefin Siddique was laid to rest at Azimpur graveyard in Dhaka on Friday afternoon.

He was buried beside his parents following his second namaz-e-janaza at Dhanmondi Eidgah Mosque after Jum'a prayers. The funeral was attended by family members, DU faculty, students, and numerous admirers.

Earlier, his first namaz-e-janaza was held in front of Baitul Aksa Jame Mosque near his residence on Green Road in the capital.

DU Vice-Chancellor Prof Niaz Ahmed Khan was present at the janaza.

Prof Arefin passed away on Thursday night at 10:45 pm while receiving treatment at the Neurosurgery Department of Ibrahim Cardiac Hospital.

He is survived by his wife, only daughter, students, and many well-wishers.
