Jucsu election: BNP-backed VP candidate Sadi casts vote 

Voting is underway for the Jahangirnagar University Central Students' Union (Jucsu) election. Among the early voters was Sheikh Sadi Hasan, vice-president candidate from the BNP-affiliated student wing, Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal.

Sadi cast his vote at around 10:00 am at the Mir Mosharraf Hossain Hall polling centre on campus.

The Chhatra Dal-backed panel is contesting several key positions in the election, including Tanzila Hossain Baishakhi for General Secretary (GS), Sajjadul Islam for Assistant General Secretary (male), and Anjuman Ara Ikra for Assistant General Secretary (female).

Other candidates fielded by the panel include Yamin Hawlader (Education and Research Secretary), Likhan Chandra Roy (Environment and Nature Conservation Secretary), Zahid Hasan Khan (Literature and Publications Secretary), Abidur Rahman (Cultural Affairs Secretary), and Parvez Hasan Nishan (Assistant Cultural Affairs Secretary).

Additional candidates from the same panel include Aminul Islam (Theatre Secretary), Tawhidur Rahman Khan (Social Welfare and Human Resource Development Secretary), Shakil Sardar (Assistant Social Welfare – male), Kazi Mausumi Afroze (Assistant Social Welfare – female), Uzzal Hasan (Sports Secretary), Ruhul Amin Sweet (Assistant Sports – male), Shahanaz Parveen Shanu (Assistant Sports – female), Zahidul Islam (Transport and Communication Secretary), and Mominul Islam (Health and Food Security Secretary).

Contesting for the Executive Member posts are Sumaiya Sultana Shia, Happy Akhtar Shila, and Shayla Sabrin Nijhum from the women’s quota, while Hamidullah Salman, Mehedi Hasan, and A.M. Rafidullah are running from the male category.

A total of 11,747 students are eligible to vote in this long-anticipated election, with 178 candidates competing for various positions. These include nine candidates vying for the vice-president post, nine for general secretary, six for female joint general secretary, and ten for male joint general secretary.
