Inspector General of Police (IGP) Baharul Alam announced today that the Bangladesh Police will recruit 4,000 Assistant Sub-Inspectors (ASIs) ahead of the upcoming national election.
Speaking to reporters after a meeting at the Ministry of Public Administration in the Bangladesh Secretariat, the IGP said, “Fifty percent of ASIs will be appointed directly and 50 percent will be appointed through promotion.”
The meeting focused on proposed amendments to the recruitment regulations, which are expected to streamline the appointment process. “Some amendments were needed in the rules, and the Ministry of Public Administration is working in this regard,” Baharul said. “Through this, the process of appointment has become a little easier.”
When asked if the timing of the recruitment was linked to the national polls, the police chief confirmed, “Of course, the Chief Adviser has agreed in principle for the appointment of several forces a few days ago.”
