A Bhola court today sentenced Shahabuddin Molla and Mahbub Alam to life imprisonment for the 2018 murder of Asman Ali in Char Fashion upazila. 

The verdict was delivered by Judge Md. Shahidul Islam of the District and Sessions Judge Court in the presence of the convicts.

State lawyer Khandaker Didarul Alam confirmed that both men were also fined Tk 50,000 each, with an additional one-year jail term in case of non-payment.

According to case details, Asman Ali was brutally murdered on March 30, 2018, in the Char Akhtar area, allegedly due to longstanding enmity. His son, Jahangir Alam, later filed a case with Char Fashion Police Station, naming the two convicts and several others.

The court’s ruling brings closure to a case that has lingered for years, marking a significant step in the pursuit of justice for the victim’s family.
