A Dhaka court today sentenced Md Sayed Mollah to imprisonment until his natural death for repeatedly raping a 13-year-old girl in 2021. 

Judge Munshi Md Moshiar Rahman of the Dhaka Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal-4 pronounced the judgment.

The incident took place in the Aganagar area under South Keraniganj Police Station, where the victim lived with her family in a rented house at Hossain Chairman Bari. Mollah, employed as the caretaker of the building, first assaulted the girl on August 2, 2021, and threatened her into silence. 

He raped her again on September 23 of the same year.

The victim later confided in her family, prompting her mother to file a case with South Keraniganj Police Station on September 24, 2021. Following investigation, police submitted the charge sheet on August 31, 2022.

During the trial, eight witnesses testified, leading to Mollah’s conviction. The court’s ruling underscores a firm stance against crimes targeting children and vulnerable individuals.
