The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has predicted heavy rainfall in three divisions and light to moderate showers elsewhere on Saturday.
Meteorologist Khandaker Hafizur Rahman said a low-pressure area lies over the coastal region of south Odisha–north Andhra Pradesh. The monsoon trough extends from Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh through the low’s center, the north Bay of Bengal, and southern Bangladesh to Assam.
The monsoon is currently fairly active over Bangladesh and moderate over the north Bay.
Until Sunday morning, many areas in Dhaka, Mymensingh, Barishal, Chattogram, and Sylhet divisions, and some areas in Rangpur, Rajshahi, and Khulna divisions, may see light to moderate rain or thundershowers with temporary gusty winds.
Moderate to heavy rainfall is likely in parts of Mymensingh, Sylhet, and Chattogram divisions.
Heavy rain is also expected in different parts of the country over the next four days, according to the BMD.
