Five people were killed in a road accident after two motorcycles and a CNG-run auto-rickshaw collided in the Ramapur area of Brahmanbaria’s Bijoynagar upazila on Sunday afternoon.
The crash happened on the Dhaka-Sylhet Highway when a Brahmanbaria-bound motorcycle collided head-on with another motorcycle heading toward Madhabpur, along with a CNG auto-rickshaw, said Jahangir Alam, Officer-in-Charge of the Sarail Khatihata Highway Police Station.
The deceased are: Sumon, 29, son of Al Amin of Bariura village in Sarail upazila of the district; Lokman Hossain, 30, son of Maqbul Ali of Maind village in Sadar upazila; Tuhin Hasan, 29, son of Shahjahan Miah of the same area; Akram, 25, son of Shahjahan Miah of Satgaon village in Bijoynagar upazila; and Moniruzzaman, 21, son of Faju Miah of Khamar Mohana village under Gangachara Police Station in Rangpur district.
Jahangir Alam, Officer-in-Charge of the Sarail Khatihata Highway Police Station confirmed the matter.
The bodies have been sent to Brahmanbaria District Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy, he said.
Police are investigating the circumstances of the accident, the official added.
