The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has forecast rain and thundershowers in various parts of the country over the next five days, beginning from 9:00 am on Monday (May 12).
According to a BMD bulletin, scattered rain accompanied by lightning and gusty winds is likely in Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions, while isolated showers may occur in Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, and Chattogram divisions. Some areas could also experience hailstorms.
Despite the incoming wet conditions, temperatures remain high across Bangladesh.
A severe heat wave is sweeping through Rajshahi, Pabna, Sirajganj, Rajbari, Khulna, Chuadanga, Meherpur, and Jashore districts, while a mild to moderate heat wave affects Dhaka, Chattogram, Barishal, and parts of Rajshahi and Khulna divisions.
The heat wave could subside in some areas over the coming days.
On Sunday, the highest recorded temperature in the country was 41.8 degrees Celsius in Chuadanga, while Rangamati saw the lowest temperature at 19 degrees Celsius.
The weather is expected to remain partly cloudy across other regions, with mainly dry conditions persisting.
The BMD has indicated that daytime temperatures will remain stable in Khulna division but could drop by 1-3 degrees Celsius elsewhere.
Night temperatures are likely to remain unchanged nationwide.
In Dhaka, the sun is expected to set at 6:33 pm today and rise at 5:17 am tomorrow.
