Chief Adviser Prof Mohammad Yunus convened an emergency meeting with top government officials to discuss the recent US tariff imposition on Bangladeshi imports.
The meeting began at the State Guest House Jamuna in Dhaka around 7:30 pm today.
Information Adviser Mahfuj Alam, Commerce Adviser Sk Bashir Uddin, Foreign Adviser Touhid Hossain, Bangladesh Bank Governor Ahsan H Mansur, NBR Chairman Abdur Rahman Khan, and CA’s High Representative Khalilur Rahman, among others, attended the meeting.
Shafiqul Alam, press secretary to the chief adviser, said that Bangladesh is a business-friendly country and the export volume to the US is expected to increase as the government will adopt pragmatic measures,
The US recently imposed a 37% tariff on imports from Bangladesh as part of President Donald Trump's new "Reciprocal Tariffs" policy. Officials remain optimistic that today's discussions will yield positive outcomes for Bangladesh's export prospects.
