Bangladesh has requested the extradition of ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina during a meeting between Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the BIMSTEC Summit.
Chief Adviser's Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam confirmed the matter today.
Speaking to the media, Shafiqul said that the 30-minute meeting covered various issues of mutual interest, including Sheikh Hasina’s alleged provocative statements from India.
Discussions also focused on border killings and the long-pending Teesta River water-sharing agreement.
This was the first meeting between the two leaders since Prof. Yunus assumed charge of Bangladesh’s interim government.
