Bangladesh received $2.53 billion in remittances through official banking channels in February, equivalent to Tk 31,094 crore at an exchange rate of Tk 123 per dollar.
This marks the fourth-highest monthly remittance inflow in the country’s history.
The highest was recorded in December of the 2023-24 fiscal year, when expatriates sent $2.64 billion.
The Bangladesh Bank released the data on Sunday, showing that remittance inflows in the first eight months (July-February) of the 2024-25 fiscal year totaled $18.49 billion, a 23.80% increase compared to the same period last fiscal year, when it stood at $14.94 billion.
In the current fiscal year, remittance inflows stood at $1.91 billion in July, $2.22 billion in August, $2.40 billion in September, $2.39 billion in October, $2.20 billion in November, $2.64 billion in December, $2.19 billion in January, and $2.53 billion in February.
