CEC urges all to avoid electoral violence for good

Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) A M M Nasir Uddin has called on everyone to refrain from electoral violence, saying such actions may bring short-term gains but ultimately harm individuals and political parties.

He made the remarks on Sunday (March 2) at an event marking National Voter Day at the Election Commission auditorium.

"Electoral violence may seem to bring victory, but in the long run, it benefits neither individuals nor parties. I urge everyone not to engage in such activities," he said.

The CEC underscored that, as per the law, the voter list must be finalized by March 2. However, the commission is updating the list by visiting homes, and another updated voter list is expected to be ready by June.

He emphasized that all political parties he has spoken to want free, fair, and acceptable elections.

"Our agenda aligns with Bangladesh's agenda, the agenda of 18 crore people. A fair and acceptable election is our only goal," CEC added.
