BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi today dismissed speculations of a secret alliance between his party and the “fallen fascist” Awami League, urging leaders and activists to remain vigilant.
“We must remain alert to ensure that those who have previously cooperated with the Awami League do not attempt to change their stance,” Rizvi said after paying tribute at the grave of BNP founder Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman in Dhaka.
Accompanied by leaders of the new convening committees of Pirojpur and Barguna BNP, Rizvi called for strengthening the party at the grassroots to secure people’s support for the Sheaf of Paddy in the upcoming general elections.
The BNP leader also criticized the government’s handling of a recent incident in New York, alleging incompetence. “If the government had shown competence, the allies of fascism would not have dared to create such an incident abroad,” he said.
Rizvi rejected allegations that BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir had been attacked in New York, terming the reports “false and baseless propaganda.”
He further accused the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) of being “powerless,” saying it failed to recover stolen assets or hold corrupt individuals accountable.
Highlighting BNP leadership, Rizvi praised Khaleda Zia’s role and credited Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman with reorganizing the party, motivating youth, and leading the struggle for democracy after Khaleda’s imprisonment.
The event was attended by senior BNP leaders, including district conveners and member secretaries from Pirojpur and Barguna.
