The month-long Islamic Book Fair is set to begin today (Sep 13) on the premises of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque in Dhaka.
Religious Affairs Adviser Dr. A. F. M. Khalid Hossain will inaugurate the fair as chief guest at 4:45 pm, following Asr prayers, according to a press release.
Religious Affairs Secretary A. K. M. Aftab Hossain Pramanik will attend as special guest, while Islamic Foundation Director General A. Salam Khan will preside over the opening ceremony.
The fair, to be held at the mosque’s south and east plazas, will run until October 12.
Visiting hours are from 11 am to 10 pm on regular days, and 10 am to 10 pm on holidays.
This year’s fair will feature around 150 stalls, including at least five international stalls from Egypt, Lebanon, and Pakistan.
A wide range of Islamic books will be showcased, including translations of the Holy Quran, Tafsir, Hadith, and various research-based works.
In addition to book sales, the event will include Islamic cultural performances, discussion sessions, and book launches with participation from writers, readers, and publishers. Facilities such as a children’s area, media corner, information desk, and separate seating arrangements for women will also be available.
On the occasion, Islamic Foundation publications will be offered at a 40 to 70 percent discount at its stalls as well as its divisional and district offices.
