Home Affairs Adviser Lieutenant General (retd) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has said that many innocent people have been sued in connection with the July movement.

He made the remark on Monday (August 11) after visiting the Tegharia High School polling centre (Centre No. 3 in Dhaka-3 constituency) in Keraniganj, Dhaka.

The Adviser said many innocent people were charged in the July movement cases. 

“We want to ensure that no innocent person comes under the purview of the law. We are trying for that and need your cooperation,” he said.

He further said that those involved in attacks on journalists had been brought under the law. “Not just journalists, we must ensure no attacks take place on ordinary people as well,” he added.
