CA Yunus leaves for three-day state visit to Malaysia

Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus left Dhaka today for Kuala Lumpur on a three-day state visit.

A Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight carrying the Chief Adviser and his entourage departed Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport around 2pm, Chief Adviser’s Deputy Press Secretary Abul Kalam Azad Majumder said.

Briefing reporters on Sunday, Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam said migration and investment will be prioritised during the visit.

On the first day, Yunus will receive a guard of honour, with Malaysian Home Minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail welcoming him. He is scheduled to hold a bilateral meeting with Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim on August 12 in Putrajaya, after which a memorandum of understanding (MoU) will be signed.

A total of five MoUs and three notes of exchange are expected to be signed during the visit. Yunus will also attend a business conference on August 12 and meet Bangladeshi expatriates in Malaysia. On August 13, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) will confer on him an honorary doctorate degree.

The high-level delegation accompanying him includes Foreign Affairs Adviser Md Touhid Hossain, Expatriate Welfare and Overseas Employment Adviser Dr Asif Nazrul, Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Adviser Fouzul Kabir Khan, National Security Adviser Dr Khalilur Rahman, Special Envoy for International Affairs Lutfey Siddiqi, and BIDA Executive Chairman Chowdhury Ashik Mahmud Bin Harun.

The Chief Adviser is scheduled to return home on August 13.
