Three people were killed in a road accident involving a truck, a CNG-run auto-rickshaw, and a motorcycle on the Chattogram-Cox’s Bazar highway in Lohagara upazila on Friday (July 25) evening.
The crash occurred around 6:15pm in the Sikdardighi area under Padua Union.
All three victims were riding on the motorcycle at the time of the incident, according to police.
The deceased were identified as Humayun, 37, and Mamun, 32, both sons of Siddiq Ahmed from Bahadirpara area of Satkania upazila, and their relative Monir Hossain, 45, son of Abdul Sattar from Korainagar Akbarpara village.
Lohagara Police Station Officer-in-Charge Arifur Rahman, confirmed the matter.
He said the collision took place when an auto-rickshaw was merging onto the highway from a nearby road. A truck heading towards Cox’s Bazar and a motorcycle traveling in the opposite direction collided with the auto-rickshaw, resulting in a three-way crash.
Two of the motorcyclists died on the spot, while the third was taken to a hospital where doctors later declared him dead, he said.
Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident, the OC added.
