Police have arrested 1,620 people across Bangladesh during a special drive, including 1,049 with pending cases or warrants.
The information was confirmed through a press release issued on Friday (July 25) by Assistant Inspector General (Media and Public Relations) of the Police Headquarters, Enamul Haque Sagar.
According to statement, the arrests were made as part of a special campaign targeting individuals involved in various criminal activities. Among those detained, 1,049 were wanted in existing cases or had outstanding arrest warrants, while the remaining 571 were held for involvement in other criminal offences.
During the drive, law enforcement personnel also recovered several weapons and tools used in criminal activities. These included foreign-made one-shooter guns, shotgun cartridges, pistol bullets, knives, and locally manufactured pipe guns.
The police said such operations would continue with the aim of strengthening law and order across the country.
