Three young men were killed when a bus hit their motorcycle in Shibpur upazila of Narsingdi late Monday night.

The fatal crash occurred around 11:30 pm on the Itakhola-Mathakhola regional road in the Bandardia area, police confirmed.

The deceased were identified as Saiful Islam (25), son of the late Jamal Uddin from Mirzakandi in Machimpur union; Ashik Mia (23), son of Badu Mia; and Apu Mia (20), son of Babul Mia.

According to police and eyewitness accounts, the three friends had travelled to Narsingdi town earlier in the evening to purchase sports equipment. 

While returning home on a single motorcycle, their vehicle was struck by a speeding bus in the Bandardia area, leaving all three riders critically injured.

Locals and fire service personnel rushed to the scene and transported the injured to the Shibpur Upazila Health Complex. 

Saiful Islam and Ashik Mia were pronounced dead on arrival, while Apu Mia, who sustained serious injuries, died while being transferred to Dhaka for advanced treatment.

Obaidul Haque, a close friend of the victims, said the trio were avid sports enthusiasts and often played together in their local area.

Afzal Hossain, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Shibpur Model Police Station, said, “We are investigating the inciden,t and legal action is being taken.”
