A fire broke out at six jhoot (garment waste warehouse) at Ambag Lalghat Bridge area under Konabari Police Station in Gazipur city on Monday (June 9).

The fire first started this afternoon in one of the warehouses. 

After that, locals first tried to douse the flames and then informed the fire service.

Md Mamun, Deputy Assistant Director of Gazipur Fire Service, said four units from Konabari and Chandna Chowrasta Modern Fire Stations rushed to the spot after receiving the call.

The fire quickly spread to five other nearby jhoot warehouses. Firefighters brought the blaze under control after about one and a half hours of effort.

The tin-shed warehouses and jhoot materials were completely damaged. However, no casualties were reported.

The cause of the fire and the extent of the damage could not be confirmed immediately.
