Train passengers urged to wear masks amid post-Eid rush

As thousands of holidaymakers prepare to return to the capital following Eid-ul-Azha celebrations, the Railway Ministry today (June 8) urged all passengers to wear masks and maintain hygiene during their train journeys.

The appeal comes amid a reported rise in Covid-19 infections across the country.

A statement, signed by Rezaul Karim Siddiqui, Public Relations Officer at the ministry was issued on Sunday, called for public cooperation in preventing further spread of the virus.

Citing an advisory from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the notice stressed the importance of wearing masks in crowded areas, particularly for the elderly and those with underlying health conditions.

"In light of the increasing Covid-19 cases, all passengers are requested to wear masks and follow hygiene protocols on their way back from Eid holidays," the Railway Ministry said.

The ministry also called on passengers to remain aware of their own health and contribute to the safety of fellow travellers during the busy post-Eid travel period.
