Tangail Detective Branch (DB) police have arrested five individuals including the mastermind behind the highway robbery of a Jordan expatriate’s microbus in Mirzapur.

The detainees are Md. Abdul Hakim, son of Yusuf Jamadar from Barishal, Sohag, son of Md. Amir Hossain, Roman, son of Md. Asad Ali, Milon Sikder, son of Subhan Sikder, Md. Arif Hossain, son of Iyar Hossain Bepari.

The incident happened on Monday during police operations in Savar and Mirpur, confirmed Tangail Superintendent of Police Md. Mizanur Rahman in a press briefing on Tuesday (June 3).

Mizanur said during the operation, authorities recovered four stolen mobile phones and BDT 13,500 from the suspects.

All suspects have multiple criminal records across different police stations, he added.

One police officer sustained gunshot injuries during the confrontation, he said, adding following the incident, the victim’s elder sister filed a case at Mirzapur Police Station.

Authorities are conducting further investigations and legal actions against the suspects, the official added.
