The Local Government Reform Commission submitted its final report to Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus today (April 20).
Commission members formally handed over the report to the head of the interim government at the State Guest House Jamuna in the afternoon, according to Deputy Press Secretary to the Chief Adviser, Abul Kalam Azad Majumder.
The government had formed the eight-member commission on November 17, 2024, with Professor Tofail Ahmed serving as its chair.
The members include Professor Tofail Ahmed, former head of the Public Administration Department at Chattogram University; Professor Dr Ferdous Arfina Osman, former chair of the Public Administration Department at Dhaka University; AMM Nasir Uddin, former government secretary; Supreme Court lawyer Advocate Abdur Rahman; Dr Mahfuz Kabir, director at the Bangladesh Institute of International and Strategic Studies (BIISS); Mashuda Khatun Shefali, executive director of Nari Uddug Kendra; Professor Dr Md Tariqul Islam, faculty member of Government and Politics at Jahangirnagar University; and a student representative.
