Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) have arrested a top listed criminal from the Chowgachha upazila in Jashore on Saturday night (April 19). 

The arrestee Ayub Hossain Babu, 40 is accused in at least six cases, including charges of robbery.

RAB members disguised themselves to raid a carrom game spot in Chowgachha bazaar. Babu was playing carrom at a local shop when a RAB member, pretending to be a player, engaged him in a game. Soon after, more RAB members arrived and arrested him.

Babu is the son of Yakub Ali from Bishwashpara in Chowgachha.

After the arrest, Babu complained of chest pain. He was first given primary treatment and later handed over to the local police station. 

Around midnight, he again reported chest pain and was taken to Chowgachha Upazila Health Complex. From there, he was shifted to Jashore General Hospital. After receiving treatment and recovering, he was brought back to the police station.

Commander of RAB-6 (Jashore camp) Russel said a team had been tracking Babu for several days and finally caught him on Saturday. He added that Babu had pre-existing respiratory issues.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Chowgachha Police Station Anwar Hossain confirmed that RAB arrested Babu in connection with a robbery case and handed him over to the police. 

The OC also said Babu is accused in six separate cases filed with the station.

Police are now processing his remand to jail through the court.
