ACC files chargesheet against 23, including Sheikh Hasina

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has filed a chargesheet against 23 people, including former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina after evidence was found of their involvement in the allocation of a 60-katha plot in capital’s Purbachal.

The charge sheet was approved on Monday (March 10) at the ACC headquarters, and the process of submitting it to the court is underway, according to ACC Director General Md. Akhtar Hossain.

The accused faced charges for abusing their power while holding top government positions to allocate six plots in Sector 27 of Purbachal, despite not being eligible. They are accused under various sections of the Penal Code and the Prevention of Corruption Act.

The accused include former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, her son Sajeeb Wazed Joy, daughter Saima Wazed (Putul), sister Sheikh Rehana, Sheikh Rehana's daughter, British MP Tulip Rizwana Siddique, her children Radwan Mujib Siddique and Azmina Siddique, and several officials from the Ministry of Housing and Public Works.

The charges involve misconduct by senior officials, including Ministry Secretary Md. Shahid Ullah Khondkar and others from Rajuk, the housing authority.
