A fire that broke out at Zaman Tower in the capital’s Naya Paltan area early Wednesday (Feb 26) has been brought under control after two hours, fire service officials confirmed.
Anwarul Islam Dolon, a spokesperson for the Fire Service and Civil Defence headquarters' media cell, said the fire started around 5:35 am and was brought under control by 7:35 am.
Firefighters are currently carrying out damping operations to prevent any further risks.
Earlier, 14 firefighting units were deployed to contain the blaze, which spread from the fourth to the fifth floor of the building. Two people were rescued during the operation.
The cause of the fire remains unknown, and no immediate details on casualties or damage have been provided.
