Army Chief General Waker-Uz-Zaman has warned that the country’s independence and sovereignty could be at risk if people fail to work together, remain divided, or engage in conflicts.
He made the remarks on Tuesday (Feb 25) at a special event at RAOWA Club in the capital, marking National Martyred Army Day and remembering the Pilkhana massacre.
The army chief said that internal conflicts and political rivalries create instability, which criminals exploit.
At this time, he urged everyone to stay united and organized to tackle law-and-order challenges effectively.
He also said that he had no personal ambitions and had "had enough" over the past seven to eight months. General Waker-Uz-Zaman reaffirmed the military’s commitment to ensuring national stability before returning to the cantonment.
