Detective Branch (DB) police have arrested two suspects, including mastermind, in connection with a robbery and harassment of female passengers on a Rajshahi-bound bus on the Dhaka-Tangail highway.
The arrestees are - Alamgir Hossain, son of Khorshed Sheikh from Amtali village in Daulatpur, Manikganj, and Rajib Hossain, 21.
Tangail Superintendent of Police (SP) Md Mizanur Rahman disclosed the information at a press conference on Tuesday afternoon.
He said the looted money, mobile phones, jewelry, national ID cards, and ATM cards were also recovered from the arrestees.
Mizanur Rahman said based on secret information, Alamgir was arrested from Sadhupura village in Purbadhala, Netrokona. At this time, police recovered 10 mobile phones, five pairs of stolen earrings, three bags, three national ID cards, an ATM card, a bus ticket, and two knives used in the robbery from Rajib's possession.
Earlier, on February 22, police arrested three others—Md Shahidul Islam Muhit, 29, Md Sabuj, 30, and Md Sharifuzzaman Sharif.
On February 17 night, a robbery and harassment incident took place on a bus named Unique Royal Amri Travels, which was traveling from Dhaka to Rajshahi.
