Dengue has claimed five more lives in the past 24 hours, while 636 new patients have been hospitalised across the country, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
A press release from the Health Emergency Operations Center and Control Room on Monday (Sept 15) said the highest number of admissions outside city corporations came from Barishal and Dhaka divisions, each reporting 131 cases. Chattogram division reported 92 cases, Khulna 29, Rajshahi 34, Mymensingh 6, Rangpur 7, and Sylhet 4. Within Dhaka city, 105 patients were admitted in the north and 97 in the south city corporations.
During the same period, 502 patients were discharged from hospitals. So far this year, 36,528 dengue patients have recovered and been released.
As of September 15, a total of 38,527 people have been infected with dengue in 2025 — 60.2 percent male and 39.8 percent female.
The death toll from dengue this year has reached 155.
In 2024, dengue cases totalled 101,214, with 575 deaths. The previous year, 2023, saw a record 1,705 deaths and 321,179 hospitalisations.
