Bangladesh reports 487 new dengue cases in 24 hours

Health authorities today reported 487 new dengue cases across the country in the past 24 hours, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

Of the new cases, 101 patients were admitted in Barishal division, 114 in Chattogram division, 106 in Dhaka division (outside the capital), 92 in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), 30 in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC), 14 in Khulna division, 26 in Rajshahi division, two in Rangpur division and two in Sylhet division.

So far this year, dengue has claimed 137 lives and infected 35,471 people nationwide.

Last year, the mosquito-borne disease caused 575 deaths and affected 101,214 people in Bangladesh, the highest annual toll on record.
